Walls Are Talking

For the last project for this year we chose a supporting study, I wanted to go for something a bit different so I picked the drawing option. The focus for this project is the museum and what a museum entails. The initial week I visited the Manchester Art Gallery and the Manchester Museum, then the Whitworth Gallery in the second week. I took pencil and pen sketches from all of them, focusing on the space inside the building and outside, the people that are inside and outside and occasionally some of the exhibits themselves. For me, the most interesting exhibition was the, 'Walls Are Talking' in the Whitworth, featuring wallpaper designs from over thirty internationally acclaimed artists such as Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol and Sarah Lucas. Although the content matter might not have been relevant to what I'm looking at for this project, I really enjoyed it and took quite a few sketches of both space inside the gallery and the wallpaper prints themselves.
